Fiesta de San Fermin - Running of the Bulls

Probably Spain's most famous festival is charging us down  in July.  What a life time highlight it would be to experience the "Running of the bulls".  The festival takes place from 6th July to 14th July in the Plaza de Toros, in Pampiona, Navarra, Spain.  

In true spanish spirit the festival is full of passion as the blood pumps through all the runners and onlookers.  The "Run" is part of the festivities to honor the town's patron saint, San Fermin.  Hundreds of passionate and eager escapees sprint along a 800m track evading the elusive and powerful raging bulls.

A good idea is to get there on the Strawberry Train, a historic, fun train that runs between Madrid and Aranjuez. In fact, strawberries are a typical product of Aranjuez, which is also outstanding for its asparagus and game. So why not have a delicious meal in Aranjuez and a dessert of strawberries.

The next place to visit is Chinchon. A picturesque village containing charming cobbled streets and a medieval square: Plaza Mayor de Chinchon, with over 200 wooden balconies overlooking where the famous bullfights are held.
The village is also a favourite because of it's gastronomical delights, especially the sweets from Clarisas Convent.

Next stop, San Lorenzo de El Escorial, an architectural wonder. Find an ensemble of monuments and the stunning El Escorial Monastery. You will be pleasantly surprised by its attractive, varied cultural agenda throughout the year, with many exhibitions and concerts.
